The first blog post introduced you to the brand and some about me, but I really want you to know me, as I am the sole owner of Scents of Relief, what makes me who I am, also makes my brand what it is. So, please let me introduce myself a little more fully.
Hi! I’m Farin, and I am the owner and creator of Scents of Relief. There are a few things that you should know about me. Let’s make it fun!
If I were to be boiled down to just four words, they would be: BALLET, BELMONT, PEOPLE, and JOY
Ballet:
While I love my business, ballet has been my passion since I was little, and has since turned into my day job (and still my passion). After learning the art form from some of the best in Boston, I moved to Nashville in 2018 to start my professional career. As someone who loves a challenge, I am drawn to the fact that perfection is impossible in art. While there is always something to work on, there is a balance of using your strengths and weaknesses to create a whole artist in a way that connects with the audience and fuels the soul. Ballet has been a part of my life since I can remember, as my mom danced until she was a young adult. She and my father (a talented musician) made sure that the arts were a pillar in our home. They put my older brother in ballet when he was five and my sister when she was three. As the youngest, I was eager to do whatever they were doing. Little did I know that ballet would become my career and shape my life entirely.

Belmont:
My passion for ballet will live on forever, but I know that my body will someday not be able to support this level of intensity. Thankfully, the company I dance with has a connection to Belmont University. Through the Adult Degree Program, I am preparing myself for a career after ballet and am currently a Junior studying Business Administration in the Jack C. Massey College of Business! Attending school at Belmont puts my career into perspective. I was concerned when I first started school again that it would distract from how much I could put into ballet. I was afraid that something would shift and suffer. However, what I’ve discovered is quite the opposite. Expanding on how I thought my day “should” look has made me a more complete dancer. Similarly, being a more complete dancer has made me a better student. These aspects of my life have beautifully fed into one another, allowing me to develop in a way that I didn’t see coming. Much of this campaign is for a Social Media Marketing class, providing me with invaluable knowledge on how to create and promote my brand. I am on my way to graduate in May of 2027, a huge milestone that I have been working toward since 2020.

People:
The heart of my life has always been the people in it. I am lucky to come from an incredible family. My parents instilled in my two siblings and me that we are here to celebrate, love, and cherish the people in our lives. Nothing brings me more joy than connecting with others, whether through food, games, chats, or shared experiences. What is life if not shared with those we love? Every time that I’ve grown, been challenged, been hurt, gotten back up, and kept going, it’s because of the people in my life. The Scoop allows me to connect with others, and I love hearing from you! Joy
No matter the situation, I have a firm belief that we can find a sense of joy. My favorite movie, About Time, highlights that it is our responsibility to live each day as if we have lived our whole lives and have traveled back in time, specifically to relive this day. If you haven’t seen this movie, I highly recommend it! Making the best of the cards you’re dealt is an ongoing (and at times difficult) but important credo for me. I hope that through Scents of Relief, I can share a little bit of this daily joy with others. The simple act of lighting a candle can shed just enough light to make the day brighter.

Creative outlets have always brought me joy. I have attempted almost every craft there is to craft and want to try the ones I haven’t yet. Candle making has brought me joy in this way, and I hope to share that with others. Scents of Relief’s website allows me to be more than a candle company. I can share myself and my joy with others, hoping that it catches on, even if just for the moment of lighting a candle.
Thank you for being here and taking a moment to bring a little more light into each other’s lives!
